What doesn't destroy you, will only make you stronger

Perhaps our life the past couple of months wasn't anything we had seen coming, or a very awe-inspiring ride on lifes crazy roller coaster of highs and lows, but what doesn't destroy you, will only make you stronger.  Right? :)
Last night listening to a sermon I went home with a lot of thinking and the phrase "keep your head up" on my mind.
Sure my husband doesn't have a job, or that a teachers salary sucks, or that we have to eat white rice or popcorn for dinner. (Joking, sort of.)  I feel more than ever grateful for all that I have: a savior, husband, family, a job, a house and so much more.  It is about time that I have realized that I don't need anything more and to truly seek what God wants me to do in the lives of others.
"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer" Romans 12:12.

Hope everyone enjoys their week and remembers to "keep your head up".

Martin Luther King

Three day weekend, Yippee! Do I need to say anymore?   :)

Anyways, I am loving Kindergarten!
Perhaps I have to remind them to use a tissue instead of their finger or wash their hands with soap after going the bathroom, but they really are sweet, love to learn and say the craziest things.

So, on Friday while spending some time talking about Martin Luther King and reading a few books I was reminded yet again why I love kids.
One of my favorite Dr. King books is Martin's Big Words.

In the book there is a particular passage that says something like "marching for their rights". Before we could stop and talk about rights, a little girl raises her hand and asks, "why aren't they marching on their lefts?".
 Too funny.
Needless to say we had a great conversation!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

Long overdue

Third time was a charm, because I got the job! God again taught be to be patient and fully rely on him.
I have been so busy organizing, rearranging, preparing and getting to know kindergarten that I haven't had much time to do anything else.  Although, I came home exhausted every night I have loved every minute of it.
Here are some pictures of the classroom before and at the end of the post you will see some after pictures.

During my winter break I found plenty of time to catch up on sleep, spend time with family, enjoy Christmas, go snowshoeing, go shopping and get my classroom ready.

And.....here are the after pictures of my classroom

Well....lets hope the next post will be before the beginning of February.

Third Time's a Charm?

This week I started 1 of 8 days I will sub in the same class!  When this opportunity came up I was excited, but not as excited to hear that there was a Kindergarten opening at a school I would love to be part of.

So sure enough I went in for my third interview at he same school I did my student teaching and where I have had previous interviews (2).
It has been less than 2 weeks from the time that I heard about the position, when it was posted, when I received an interview, and when I will find out the results.
CRAZY!  All of this seems so surreal.
How could this just "fall into" my lap?  I have been working so hard for 2 years to land a full time job in teaching, and this comes along.
3 words.
A GOD THING.
Although I have no idea what the results will be I have to remind myself that this is all in Gods hands, it is out of my control.
~Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.~Philippians 4:6-7

So beyond all that junk, I decided to celebrate just getting through the interview, so I made pizza.
MmmMmm!
Not only does it look great, but it tasted soo very good.
Oh...and can't forget to mention how a meal isn't complete without dessert.
That's right Chocolate Moose Tracks
Sinfully Delicious!

Passion 2010

Friday morning our exciting adventure began, as we headed off to Vancouver, BC for Passion!
After 3-4 hours of driving and making a stop for Chik-fil-a we made it!
See Chik-fil-a isn't a huge deal for us in the Northwest, but for those that have had it before and now live in the Northwest, they seem to go CRAZY for it.
Before heading into the conference we explored Vancouver! Loved the shops, buildings and overall atmosphere.  Wish we could have stayed longer.
YUMMY!!! Almost too cute to drink!

Passion is a conference held that gathers college &and university students across the nation/world to seek GOD.  Vancouver was Passions last stop.  Prior, they had been in Kyiv, London, Tokyo, Manila, Hong Kong, and Sao Paulo.

For worship we had:
Chris Tomlin
The David Crowder Band
Matt Redman

For our speaker we had Louie Giglio.
We had an AMAZING night!

Job Hunt and more

That's right.....my husband and I are on the hunt for a job.

Although, there are not any full time teaching positions open I can continue to substitute and tutor. Two things that involve children and learning! Next best thing to having your own classroom.
My husband on the other hand, has been laid off more or less. He has fortunately, been able to land a UPS job and small "honey to do" jobs from friends.
Despite the crazy almost hopeless feeling of "how are we going to do this" we have stayed faithful, knowing God will provide for us, as he has in the past.

-No temptation has seized you except what is common to man.  And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

So many times we think that no one could possibly understand what we are going through, or that your the only one who has felt like giving up. We are not alone, God clearly lets us know that he does know what we are going through and that others have even endured similar trials. God also knows us better than we know ourselves, and understands what we can and cannot bear.
It is so comforting to know that what I may be going though in any given moment, will be overcome by the grace of God.

What doesn't destroy me makes me stronger. -Friedrich Neitzche

Roloff Farms

What an adventure we had!
Alissa, Tifaney, Lehua and I decided to venture out on a "mini" road trip into Oregon to see the Little People Big World pumpkin patch.
We saw all but one of the Roloff family members!

We ended our time with a bite to eat at Fire on the Mountain (YUMMY!) and hitting up some of the outlets in Centralia.
What a Perfect Day.....
Thanks Ladies!!
